Magnesium may help with contracting and relaxing the muscles throughout your body, so if your neck pain is stemming from a strained muscle, increasing your magnesium intake could be helpful. You can increase your magnesium intake naturally by eating more fruits, beans, vegetables, tofu, and whole grains. You can also try taking a magnesium supplement or using magnesium oil and applying it on the affected areas topically.
