5 Tips To Reset Your Body In 2018

As the holiday season has come to an end and January sets in, it can be a perfect time to reset your body. While after a month of indulgence it can be challenging to get back into a healthy routine there are small things you can do every day to help you get there. All it takes is a few tweaks to your day to flush out the accumulated toxins and drop those extra holiday pounds. Try to incorporate these five tips to reset your body and start the new year on a high note.

Start the day with a lemon turmeric water

Starting the day with warm lemon water has been a pretty widespread notion for a while now but adding turmeric can make a huge difference. The combination of the two has potent effects for one’s overall health. Lemon juice is full of Vitamin C, balances the body’s Ph level, aids digestion and flushes out toxins. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant that helps the body to digest other antioxidants and has disease-fighting properties. Squeeze 1/2  a lemon into a mug, add a 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric and cover with warm water. Mix well and then drink. Keep a spoon handy as the turmeric may fall to the bottom so you will need to mix while drinking.

Sweat it out

One of the quickest ways to flush out toxins and kick start the weight loss is to sweat it out. Of course, having a consistent exercise routine is vital, hydrotherapy can also be beneficial. If you have access to a steam or sauna room, try going 2-3 times a week. The sauna heat eliminates toxins and cleanses your pores. The steam room opens up your lungs allowing you to take in more oxygen while also flushing out toxins through sweat. If you don’t have access to a steam or sauna room, then run yourself a bath with baking soda, Epsom salts and 2-3 drops of a lavender essential oil. The Epsom salt acts as an anti-inflammatory and helps to flush out heavy metals and toxins from the body.

*Due to heavy sweating it is essential that you check with your doctor before trying hydrotherapy and that you gauge how you feel when you do it. It can differ for everyone.

Incorporate herbs into your diet

Herbal supplements or teas can be a great natural addition to your diet to aid detoxification. Dandelion root, goldenseal, fennel and Triphala are just a few of the ones that are recommended for detoxification. Dandelion root acts as a diuretic, a mild laxative and possesses liver cleansing properties. Goldenseal boosts your immune system, cleanses the liver and aids in keeping your upper respiratory tract healthy. Fennel aids digestion, reduces bloating, decreases acidity in one’s body and flush out toxins thanks to its high fiber content. Triphala increases bowel movements, purifies the blood and detoxifies the liver. Remember to always talk to your healthcare provider to find out what is right for you.

Load up on healing foods

Diet plays one of the most prominent roles in our overall health, so it is essential to incorporate the right foods for detoxification and healing. Add more leafy greens and sea vegetables into your diet as the chlorophyll helps to remove toxins from your body and detoxify the liver. Also consider adding more garlic, broccoli sprouts, nuts and seeds, and raw vegetables into your diet as they all work toward flushing environmental toxins and toxic metals from the body.

Try drybrushing

Brushing your skin can help to drain your lymphatic system of toxic build-up while unclogging your pores and increasing circulation in the body. As a bonus dry brushing helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Invest in a soft brush and gently brush your body all over working your way up from the feet to the heart.
